On first
arrival in Kathmandu and Nepal international airport, received by our Epic
Adventures staff and guide for short transfer to your hotel in the hub of
Kathmandu. After a short refreshing rest in your room then join with other
group members for trek briefing, our expert guide will provides full
information regarding the trek, culture, tour of Kathmandu at places of
interest.
Evening a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurants with local folk cultural program entertains, while you have dinner.
In our day 2 in
Kathmandu for trek preparation and tour at places of great interest around best
historical and cultural places. Our city tour guide will take you to famous
areas listed in World Heritage Sites like Swayumbhunath temple, Kathmandu
Durbar Square , biggest hindu shrine Pashupatinath temple, biggest stupa
Bouddhanath and then back to hotel after a wonderful time at sightseeing tour
with time for preparation for next day trek to Annapurna base camp.Also we will
have a meeting with trekking guide for briefing about whole trekking journey.
Morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for short scenic flight to Lukla, a smaller model aircraft (Twin Otter or Dornier) enjoy 30 minutes flight overlooking Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest. On landing at Lukla small airstrip named Tenzing - Hillary airport, from Lukla few hour walks downhill past Sherpa farm villages with views of Kwangde and Kusum Khanguru peaks. After a pleasant first day walk then reach Phakding village for overnight stop in a nice local lodge close to glacial Dudh Kosi River.
After an enjoyable rest day at Namche, the morning walk starts with a short up and then on a gradual scenic trail and descend to the Imjatse River for lunch, stopping at a small place called Phunge-Tenga. After lunch and a refreshing break, the afternoon starts with a climb within the cool shade of rhododendron, pines, and fir forest with grand views of snowcapped peaks.
After a few hours of scenic and strenuous climb reaching the Thyangboche Monastery area, here enjoy the marvelous views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kantega, Tharmasarku, and Kwangde with magnificent Mt. Amadablam in the afternoon with time to visit its interesting monastery and observe monks and priests in prayer.
Morning walk downhill for an hour to a bridge, where tall tree lines drop for short juniper and rhododendron bushes, which are called azalea. The view of Ama Dablam is superb on the walk to Pangboche, the last permanent village on route Everest base camp.
As the walk continues on, gradual up after a short rest at Pangboche, then stopping for lunch at Somare. From here onward into exposed, wide windswept country.
After an hour's walk from lunch, the route leads to a junction where the Pheriche and Dingboche trails meet. Our trek follows an east direction to cross a small bridge with the last climb to Dingboche, located on a scenic Imjatse valley and close beneath Ama Dablam with a grand view of island peaks in the east.
Dingboche, a summer settlement for Khumjung, Pangboche villagers, and a Yak grazing pasture as well as growing barley, wheat, and buck on a large field within its patch of stone walls to keep the animals off from grazing, due to the mass arrival of trekkers. Dingboche has many good lodges.
At Dingboche another rest day for acclimatization before heading towards our goal at Everest base camp. Here are options for a short hike up to the hill called Nagarjung, which rewards with excellent views of the valley and high snow-capped mountains, including Mt. Makalu in the far east beyond Island Peak.
On leaving Dingboche, morning a short climb to a ridgetop with Buddhist prayer monuments. From the top, walk on nice gradual up to a small place, Thugla, for lunch. A small settlement with few shops and teahouses, this is where the Khumbu glacier melts into a torrential stream. As well, the trail from Pheriche and Dingboche joins. After lunch, a stop climb of less than an hour to the top at Thugla Pass is the spot lined with memorials of unfortunate climbers who died on Mt. Everest, Lhotse, or other high mountains, and then a slow, steady walk reaches you at Lobuche for an overnight stop.
A big day today towards Everest Base Camp, the main major highlight of the adventure. The walk follows a level path for sometimes and then a short steep up to a small flat area. Where the route to base camp diverts, time permitting a short visit to the Glass Pyramid, a metrological station, a joint venture of Nepalese and Italian scientists, a project to study the weather and glacial movement of the Khumbu Himalayas. From here, walk above the Khumbu glacier to Gorakshep, a place with few good lodges, located beneath the lofty peak of Pumori and Kalapathar rocky hill.
After a short break, continue walking to Everest Base Camp, as the route takes you over mountains and ice to base camp just below the mighty peaks of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse with a close view of the notorious Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers.
After a marvelous and exciting adventure of a lifetime experience, retrace the journey back to Gorakshep for an overnight stop.
Early morning from the lodge at Gorakshep, a strenuous climb of a few hours takes you on top of Kalapathar rocky hill at 5,643 meters high. The highest point of the trek offers an incredible, breathtaking panorama of giant mountains with a close view of Mt. Everest. After a dramatic scenic moment, descend to Gorakshep and continue the trek downhill to Thugla. From this small spot enter the windy Pheriche valley, an hour walk on wide plain to reach Pheriche, a nice settlement with many good lodges and restaurants. Located close to Dingboche over a high hill, enjoy lunch break at Pheriche, which is also a health post and a project station of HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association). From Pheriche, an easy walk with the last climb to a hilltop, and then downhill to Pangboche for an overnight stop.
Final and last day walk of the adventure, morning starts on pleasant trail crossing over a bridge, as walk follows to Phakding, from here few hours to Lukla as walk leads to few ups and downhill, and then a last hour climb to Lukla for last overnight stop in Khumbu and Everest region.
Morning as per the flight time walk to Lukla or Tenzing & Hillary airport, and then board in a small aircraft for an exciting scenic flight to land at Kathmandu airport, and back within hustle and bustle city life in Kathmandu. On checking into your hotel rooms, rest of the day free at leisure.
On your last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, depending on your international flight schedule, our staff and guide will accompany you on a short drive to the international airport for your departure. This concludes your memorable and fabulous adventure at Annapurna Base Camp and the incredible journey through Nepal.
A wonderful 12D11N journey and many unforgettable memories. Due to bad weather the original flight is cancelled. I have to take helicopter in the next day to arrive in Lukla to start my trekking. But the following 12D11N trekking undergone so well. I took many great and beautiful photos. Day by day reaching Everest Base Camp (EBC). Experienced sunny day, rainy day and snowy day. Finally reaching the destination - EBC. Last but not least, sunrise on Kala Patthar. Nima is a great and experienced guide. He helps me carrying my sleeping bag and power band.
