Morning as per flight time for Phaplu airport, transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport and board in a small aircraft. The plane Twin-Otter, Dornier or similar as flight takes off, enjoy grand views of Himalayan range with dramatic landscapes of Nepal. As plane lands on short airstrip then walk to the local lodge for overnight stop in Phaplu.
The free hours in Phaplu allows you to learn and understand the local culture, the village populated by Sherpa people the highlanders of Everest and Eastern Himalaya with some mixed tribes of hill people the Kirat Rai, Magar, Tamang with few Hindu Bharamins and Chettries, as well Newar.
After a pleasant overnight in the lodge at Phaplu with immense hospitality of Sherpa land-lords, having good breakfast start the morning walk on gradual winding trail with slow climb past farm areas and spread-out villages with distant views of snow peak. As walk continues with few refreshing stops to observe local farm life with excited villagers and children greets you with ‘Namaste’ as the people around hardly see western visitors passing through their villages on this off beaten trails. Walk heads further west to Jampre for overnight stop, a moderate size farm village with time to interact with the local.
Second day walk leads closer to our main highlight destination on leaving the farm villages and settlements, as adventure continues towards absolute wilderness and within lovely forest covered with tall rhododendron-magnolia-oaks-hemlocks-pines and fir trees. Slowly walk ends on reaching a grazing pasture at Pike Hill Base Camp, around cattle herder camps with temporary huts and shades with small simple lodge for overnight, and having Nepalese or Sherpa meals for dinner. The area is remote and isolated with few visitors often venture around this route, but it is slowly getting popular as few lodges has been established to cater the trekkers.
Early morning at before dawn start with long climb of about two hours carrying pack-lunch for the day. As uphill continues within deep forested area with few refreshing stops in between the climb. As walk carries on then reach on top Pike Hill, the highest spot of the adventure at the height of 4,302 m high.
From the ridge top enjoy stunning wide panorama of Himalayan peaks along with striking sunrise that reflects first on Mt. Everest, being the highest and then extends to array of peaks. Pike Hill offers views of Ganesh-Langtang with Jugal Himal range includes views of Mt. Gaurishankar-Melung Tse-Numbur and Makalu.
After a wonderful glorious moment in the harmony of pristine location with super views of mountain range, then downhill to base camp and continue walk to a nice farm village at Loding for overnight stop.
After a pleasant and relaxing time at Junbesi with tour and hike of Thubten Choeling Gompa. From here on gentle walk back on the main trekking trail to Phaplu for last overnight stop around the hills of Solu. Walk down with few short ups to Phaplu and then transfer into a lovely lodge.
Afternoon at leisure to explore around this nice Sherpa village with a small airstrip.
Morning as per flight time for Kathmandu, short walk to small air terminal of Phaplu, as plane arrives from Kathmandu and then board in a small aircraft for exciting scenic flight to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu domestic terminal walk to the car park for short drive to your hotel, rest of the day free at leisure.
Spare day as contingency in case of flight delay and cancellation at Phaplu or in the beginning from Kathmandu, might happens sometimes due to unfavorable bad weather. Which is quite normal as Himalayan weather can be unpredictable even in best time of the seasons for trekking.
