Mt. Dhaulagiri towers high as the world’s 7th highest peaks at 8,167 m and 26, 906 feet high. First ascent by Austrian Expedition with Nepalese Pasang Dawa Lama in October 19th, 1954, since then it is climbed every year.

Epic Adventurers offers this exciting adventure for trekkers in search of absolute wilderness and is quite challenging with rugged terrain-wise.
Mt. Dhaulagiri Base Camp will be a perfect trek for the adventurous as well as for any trekkers with excellent physical fitness. This adventure takes you to rugged country from green vegetation, tall tree lines to notorious fields of ice and glaciers.

Where you will be away from mainstream trails for some days, in complete wilderness, as well far from human settlements.
Mt. Dhaulagiri Base Camp is located at 4,700 m / 15,400 feet high, right beneath the main Mt. Dhaulagiri-I. A massive group of peaks forms the great Dhaulagiri range with Dhaulagiri-I, II, III, and IV. Includes Putali, Mana-Pati Himal, and Gurja Himal also extends from Mygdi district to Mustang and as far to Dolpo area.

Dhaulagiri's name comes from an ancient word that means Dhaula for bright, white, beautiful, and Giri as Mountain. Two ways that one can reach Mt. Dhaulagiri base camp, taking a short route anti-clock-wise from Marpha village.

The other main popular trek is clock-wise starting from Mygdi district to end at Lower Mustang in Marpha village.

Epic Adventurers follows the main route, which provides trekkers to experience more with the full circuit of Mt. Dhaulagiri. The adventure begins on reaching a famous tourist city in Pokhara and then heading towards Nepal far west around Mygdi district. Where our fabulous walks start from a farm village at Darbang, after spending overnight, following the Mygdi River upstream.
An amazing fact of the adventure, our route follows the Mygdi River to the glacial source at Dhaulagiri Base Camp. The walk leads past scattered farm hamlets and towards the last village at Bagar, and then into pure wilderness. On leaving the last human settlement for some days till the walk reach Marpha on the other side of Dhaulagiri.

Big climb uphill high above Mygdi River within a dense forest of tall rhododendron, oaks, and pines trees to reach Dovan. A small clearing and grazing place of local cattle herders, from here adventure takes you to a wide glacial valley.

The wide glacial area is known as the Italian camp where all vegetation and tree lines drop for the barren rugged country.
Italian Camp situated right beneath south-west flank of massive

Mt. Dhaulagiri range, walk get strenuous following the glacial path. As route leads over a boulder of rocks, ice, and moraine to Mt. Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

The base camp is situated beneath towering Mt. Dhaulagiri-I, facing the closest views of the world's 7th highest peaks with massive Ice-fall.
Spending overnight at base camp, next morning journey continues over moraine on a glaciated valley with views of Tukuche peak. Where climb leads to the highest spot of the trek at French Pass 5, 360 m / 17,585 feet high.

From the pass sweeping panorama of Dhaulagiri mountain range with Tukuche and other peaks, and then descend to Hidden Valley. A wide scenic valley as well a summer pasture and grazing field for local Yak herders of Mustang villagers.

At Hidden Valley, a rest day as a contingency enjoy a hike to viewpoints on this least explored country. Slowly adventure comes to near an end, as the route follows east from the Hidden valley towards Thapa / Dhampus Pass. The last final climb over the Thapa pass offers a spectacular panorama of Kaligandaki valley,
Annapurna, and the Dhaulagiri Himalaya Mountain range.

On crossing over Thapa or Dhampus Pass, a long downhill back into vegetation and tall tree lines to Marpha village. Marpha is one of the loveliest villages, populated by flourishing tribe the Thakali interwoven to Buddhism religion. Next early morning a short drive to Jomsom town for an exciting scenic short flight to beautiful Pokhara. Where our overwhelming and wonderful adventure Mt.
