Kathmandu Valley Hill Trekking starts with morning drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, located at a distance of 15 k.m. outside the city and at the end of eastern valley rim. Sundarijal a small farm town, walk begins with climb to reach at Shivapuri National Park entrance. From here into forest and within farm villages, then finally climb ends at Chisapani. Waking early morning to catch stunning sunrise that reflect over range of snow peaks, having good breakfast walk on pleasant scenic trail through lovely rhododendron, pines forest then downhill to Chowki-Bhanjyang, a small farm village for possible lunch stop. Afternoon walk on winding path for few hours past Jarsing Pawa to Kartike Bhanjyang. From here uphill to Nagarkot, one of popular and famous touristic hill town of Nepal, a place with many excellent lodge and resorts. At Nagarkot check in a nice hotel, lodge or resorts for overnight stop with rooms facing wonderful views of mountains.
Nagarkot, located at 2,120 m high, offers glorious sunrises and sunset views that reflects over array of Himalayan peaks. Views from Nagarkot of Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang-Jugal Himal with Mt. Gaurishankar, extends towards Everest range in the far eastern horizon.
From Nagarkot with morning views of sunrise over mountains, walk downhill past cultivated terraced field to Tele farm village. On leaving the main road walk into lovely cool shade of rhododendron and pine tree lines to Changunararyan Temple. Walk into nice Newar traditional village then up the step to ancient temple of Nepal Changunararyan, located on a high hilltop also called Changu or Dolagiri. The temple area amidst forest of champak tree and small Changu village north of Bhaktapur. Changunararyan Temple dedicated to Hindu god Lord Vishnu, the temple the oldest in Nepal. The pagoda temple a masterpieces of 5th to 12th century of excellent Nepalese art.
After an interesting tour of the temple walk to car park, and then drive back to Kathmandu with options for tour of Bhaktapur.
