We suggest you carry some extra cash to cover emergencies or unexpected costs. We think a well-planned budget gives us a stress-free experience.

Transportation and Logistics

During the Pikey Peak trek, we only have one good option to transfer from Kathmandu to Dhap, which is by jeep. Dhap is a small village with fewer roads.
Other transportation:
Local Bus: We can use buses from Kathmandu to Salleri only, which is not the trail spot for trekking, and it takes a long time because of stops for other passengers
Private Jeeps:  It takes a short time to reach the destination. It helps us to drive a direct route from Kathmandu to the trekking starting point.
Flight from Kathmandu to Phaplu: You will have another option for the flight from Kathmandu to Phaplu, but it's more expensive than other modes of transportation. Finding a flight ticket to Phaplu at the time we require is hard.

Buses are budget-friendly but can be slower than private taxis and jeeps. Private jeeps provide a faster transit and are more comfortable off-road during the peak season.

Trek independently Vs Trek with a Guide

When planning the Mardi Himal Trek, one must decide between trekking independently or booking a guided tour. Each option offers unique advantages and suits different trekkers' preferences.

Independent trekking appeals to those who love freedom and flexibility. It allows trekkers to set their own pace and schedule, making spontaneous decisions along the route. This can be an economical choice, with trekkers managing their costs directly.

On the other hand, guided tours provide significant benefits, especially for first-time trekkers in Nepal. These tours often include accommodation, meals, and a knowledgeable guide. The guides offer insights into local culture and ensure safety in unfamiliar terrains.

Why do we recommend hiring a guide during the Pikey peak trek?

Here are some reasons why you should hire a guide during the Pikey Peak Trek:

  • For your safety and emergency support, such as handling altitude sickness (AMS), injuries, Extreme weather conditions, and Emergency rescues
  • Newly discovered destination, less crowded
  • Leave stress and safety, focus on enjoying the beauty of nature and culture
  • Guides are experienced, and they know original and alternative routes in case any situation arises
