Mera Peak Trek & Climb, an adventure that takes you on one of the highest trekking peaks of Nepal Himalaya. Mera peak towers at 6,461 m and 21, 1907 feet high, located south of Everest around the eastern end of Khumbu.

Epic Adventurers to Mera Peak Trek & Climb an enjoyable and exciting adventure leads to memorable experience around Nepal Himalaya. 
 Mera Peak climbing grade ‘F’ means “Facial Easy” the grading used from the French / Swiss Alpine Climb Classification System. A straightforward climb to Mera Peak summit of less technical effort, however, climbers requires needs to be well equipped. Mera Peak is situated at the end of the beautiful Hinku valley and east of Khumbu, enclosed by an array of towering peaks.

Mera Peak Trek & Climb adventure starts with a sweeping short flight to Luka from Kathmandu. On arrival at Lukla airport, a famous Sherpa town the gateway to various adventures around the Everest region. The first day's walk leads away from Lukla town heading towards a tranquil environment in the harmony of pristine wilderness. As trek progress entering into hidden Hinku valley after a steep climb over Naulekh and Kalo-Himal high ridge. The adventure continues into dense woodland of tall rhododendron, pine, birch, and juniper tree lines, walking past several summer grazing pastures.

In between lovely walks coming across few cattle and yak herders temporary shelters of Thuli Kharka. Then at Thangnak a nice spot with few simple huts serving as Tea-House and shops. The journey continues facing wonderful views of Mera Peak, Kusum Kanguru with an array of towering mountain ranges.

Finally, the adventure leads to Mera Peak base camp, on leaving the green vegetation and tree lines for sheer mountain wilderness. Walk past a frozen lake over the moraine of rocks on rough hard ground to Khare base camp of Mera Peak. At base camp with ample time for acclimatization as well as to practice climb on ice ledge and rocks. Rest day allows checking the gear and equipment for the next big day's climb to the summit of Mera Peak. From the base camp adding one more high camp to make the climb more accessible and easier.

From the High Camp, our final major highlight of the adventure begins starting early morning following our lead expert guide. Walk follows avoiding crevices then heading for a steep strenuous climb towards on top of Mera Peak. On reaching the summit feeling in high spirits overlooking amazing scenery of rolling hills and an array of giant peaks. Enjoy view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Baruntse Himal with Mt. Makalu as far towards Mt. Kanchenjunga.

After achieving our goal and reaching the final highlight destination, return journey on the same scenic trail to Lukla. At Lukla for last overnight around high Khumbu and Everest region and then taking a short scenic flight to Kathmandu. Best seasons for Mera Peak Trek & Climb:
The best season for this extreme adventurous and high-altitude climb is in springtime from March to May and autumn from September to November month. 

Springtime from March to May is one of the most favorable seasons, most days are fine and clear for views and pleasant walks. The afternoon can get cloudy with chances of rain sometimes, and snow above 3,000 m high. Morning and late afternoon till night time can be cold on higher areas but days are longer with enough sun-light hours. 

The next best time is autumn September to November, where days are crystal clear for views and walks. Days are much shorter due to sun-light hours, with freezing temperatures in the morning, late afternoon, and nighttime. That is without adding extra wind-chill factor and can get snowed sometimes even in the best time of the year.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On first arrival in Kathmandu and Nepal international airport, received by our Epic Adventures staff and guide for short transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu. After a short refreshing rest in your room then join with other group members for trek briefing, our expert guide will provides full information regarding the trek, culture, tour of Kathmandu at places of interest.

Evening a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurants with local folk cultural program entertains, while you have dinner.

Day 2 : Tour of Kathmandu UNESCO heritage sites of great interest.

A day in Kathmandu for trek preparation and tour at places of great interest around best historical and cultural places. Our city tour guide will take you to famous areas listed in World Heritage Sites and then back to hotel after a wonderful time at sightseeing tour with time for preparation for next day adventure to Mera Peak Trek & Climb.

Day 3 : Fly to Lukla 2, 860 m and trek to Chutanga 3,450 m - 04 hrs.

Morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for short scenic flight to Lukla, a smaller model aircraft (Twin Otter or Dornier) enjoy 30 minutes flight overlooking Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest.

On landing at Lukla small airstrip named Tenzing - Hillary airport, from Lukla few hour walks to Chutanga for overnight stop in tented camp, a small temporary settlement on route to Mera Peak and Hinku valley amidst beautiful forest surroundings.

Day 4 : Trek to Tuli Kharka via Zatrwa La Pass 5-6 hrs trek Altitude: 4,250m

After overnight stop in Chutanga, morning continues with steep climb to cross Kalo Himal or Nau-Lekh, a rocky high ridge which forms a boundary of Dudh Kosi River area and Hinku, Honku valleys with Makalu region. 

Trek leads over he first pass with steep climb to a high ridge festooned with Buddhist prayer flags at 4,450 m, the pass called Zatrwa Og, and Zatrwa-La with views across Dudh Kosi River valley with Karyolung and Lumding Himal.

From here descend to Thuli-Kharka for overnight camp within hidden areas of Hinku valley.

Day 5 : Trek to Gothey 5-6 hrs trek Altitude: 3600m

From Thuli Kharka, we ascend with brilliant views of Kusum Kanguru (6370m) to reach a picturesque settlement in the Hinku valley with spectacular south face view of Mera Peak (6476m). We move back into the deep rhododendron and pine forest, and with a slow walk through the tranquil forest, we arrive in Kothe. Overnight in Kothe.

Day 6 : Trek to Thagnag 5-6 hrs trek Altitude: 4,350m

The trail today goes to the north leaving the forest behind and taking to vast meadows. After a pleasurable walk through a wide gorge, we cross a small bridge to reach Gondishung. Gondishung has a fascinating 200 years old small Gompa (monastery shrine). We will continue to ascend through the pastureland to reach the summer village of Tangnag. In Tangnag, we will have an amazing view of Mera Peak (6476m), Kusum Kanguru (6367m), Thamserku (6608m), Kangtega (685m), and many other snow-capped peaks. Overnight in Tangnag.

Day 7 : Acclimatization day at Thagnag

Since you’ve gained a lot of height in a short period of time, an acclimatization day would be beneficial here in Tangnag before heading to the higher altitude to reach the top of Mera Peak (6476m). An optional short hike is recommended for better views of the surrounding peaks. Overnight in Tangnag.

Day 8 : Trek to Khare 3-4 hrs trek Altitude: 5,025m

Start the morning with a modest walk to Sabai Tsho with breathtaking views of the mountains surrounding the Hinku valley. Later, walk on the moraines leading to a high area lined with cairns overlooking the glacial lake. After climbing for a short while to reach High Camp, the path leads downhill to a large pasture at Dig Kharka, from where we walk for an hour across the boulder-strewn hillside to reach Khare for the overnight stay.

Day 9 : Ice climbing practice

This day will be contributed for practicing the climbing techniques and the use of various gears. You will be given detailed information on using ropes, boots, and other climbing gears. Safety measures and precautions will be given. Overnight in Khare.

Day 10 : Trek to Mera Base Camp 3-4 hrs trek Altitude: 5,350m

The journey today takes us to Mera Base Camp via Mera La (5415m). We follow the moraine path and walk alongside Mera Glacier to first ascend the top of Mera-La and then descend to Mera Base Camp. A mild downhill through the glacier brings us to the base camp. We have sufficient time for relaxation and short walks around, and can also prepare for the climb to Mera Peak summit. Overnight at Mera Base Camp.

Day 11 : Climb to Mera high camp 4 hrs trek Altitude: 5,750m

We will climb further through Mera Glacier to reach Mera High Camp. Climbers can summit Mera Peak (6476m) directly from the base camp, but it is always safe and better to stop at one more camp before the climb. The high camp rewards exceptional vista of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Makalu (8463m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Lhotse (8414m), Nuptse (7861m), Baruntse (7152m), and so on. Overnight at High Camp.

Day 12 : Summit day and descend to Khare 3-4 hrs trek Altitude: 6476m

A big day awaits you. Beginning very early for the summit, we make a sheer ascent through a trail where our Sherpas have fixed ropes on necessary sections. After a strenuous climb, we reach the summit of Mera Peak (6476m). A dream becomes reality as you stand on top of Mera Peak (6476m) overlooking the remarkable peaks of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8414m), Mt. Makalu (8463m), Mt. Cho- Oyu (8188m), and so on. Afterward, return back to Khare following the slippery trails. Overnight in Khare.

Day 13 : Trek to Gothey 4-5 hrs trek Altitude: 3600m

After the enthralling summit and an experience of a lifetime, you return to Kothe through Digkharka, High Camp, and Tangnag. A steep downhill climb on a moraine path brings us to Kothe where you can rest your aching body. Overnight in Kothe.

Day 14 : Trek to Thuli Kharka 5-6 trek Altitude: 4250m

From Khothey, a gradual descend takes us back to the forested area with Himalayan pines and rhododendrons, then crossing several nice grazing lands with astonishing views of Mera Peak (6476m), we arrive in Thuli Kharka for the overnight stay.

Day 15 : Trek to Lukla 5-6 hrs trek Altitude: 2865m

From Thuli Kharka, we return to Lukla, the starting point of the trip. We’ll take time to enjoy the accomplishment as a group and as an individual. You’ll also have enough time to explore the place. Enjoy the environment and exchange stories with the local people since today is the last day of the trek. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 16 : Fly to Kathmandu Altitude: 1355m

This morning you will board the Lukla flight again, the difference being this time you will be bound for Kathmandu. Enjoy the aerial view of the mountains, the hills, and the network of rivers and streams. Upon arrival in the capital, you will be driven to your hotel. Feel free to explore the city. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 17 : International departure for homeward bound.

Last day in Kathmandu and in Nepal, as per your international flight time our staff and guide will accompany you for a short drive to international airport for final departure, after a memorable adventure and experience on Mera Peak Trek & Climb around amazing Nepal Himalaya.
