Langtang Valley & Gosainkund / Laurabinaya-La Pass Trekking, an adventure towards Langtang Himal region, the closest Himalaya range from Kathmandu.
On a clear day, views of the Central Himalayas and Langtang snow peaks can be seen from Kathmandu valley as well.
 
Epic Adventurers Langtang Valley & Gosainkund / Laurabinaya-La Pass Trekking, a great combination, visiting the best beautiful areas. An exciting overland journey reaches you to the start of trekking around Rasuwa district and within Langtang National Park. As drive leads to cooler Himalayan high hills in Dhunche town and at Syabrubesi village populated by indigenous Tamang communities.
 
The walk starts from Syabrubesi village towards our first destination around beautiful Langtang Valley, heading uphill covered in the lovely cool forest. Springtime the whole area is lively with wild flowers in seasonal bloom with rhododendron the national flowers of various species. 
 
Langtang Himal region is also famous for rare endangered Red Panda, often seen during the walks within beautiful woods. Walk follows Langtang River upstream past few settlements of Lama Hotel and Ghoretabela to Langtang village. 

A major settlement on route Langtang Valley, inhabited by Tamang and Hyalmo people the main hill tribes of Central Himalaya. Here every house is adorned with Buddhist prayer flags and religious monuments, from Langtang village onward to beautiful Langtang Valley.
 
Then enter the scenic Langtang Valley at Kyanjin the last settlement enclosed by an array of snow-capped mountains of Langtang Himal.
 
Enjoy a rest day at picturesque Langtang valley in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge, facing grand views of snow peaks. Herewith time for a short hike to viewpoints for the best panorama of the dramatic scenery of rolling hills and mountains.   
 
After a wonderful time around Langtang Valley at Kyanjin, the adventure leads to our next high destination at holy Gosainkund Lake. Back on the same trail downhill, and then our route diverts heading up to a nice village of Thulo Syabru.
 
A typical Tamang village with beautifully decorated wood carving of Tibetan design on doors and windows in every house. A lovely place with an old monastery above the village, from here journey continues with a climb into a densely forested area. From the high ridge walk around summer pasture field a pleasant walk in the woods to Sing Gompa. 

The last permanent village before the Helambu area on route to Kathmandu, after crossing a high pass of Gosainkund / Laurabinaya-La.
 
The name of this small village is Sing Gompa, due to its impressive old monastery perched on top of the village. From here to Gosainkund, as climb follows through a beautiful forest and then leaving the green vegetation behind. As the uphill trail reaches Laurabinaya high ridge, after walking past few smaller settlements with shops and tea houses. 
 
Enjoy breathtaking views of Langtang, Jugal, Ganesh Himal, and Manaslu Himalaya as far towards Annapurna range in the far west. From the top, a short descend, then on a gradual path to Gosainkund main holy lake, after walking past Bhairab Kund. Gosainkund area is situated on a basin surrounded by rocky high cliffs and snow peaks, with few lodges for travelers.
 
Enjoy the afternoon at leisure and marvel at the beautiful serene glacial Gosainkund, one of the holiest of all holy sites. A famous pilgrimage destination for Hindus as well as for Buddhist followers, here once a year a great religious festival is held.
 
During monsoon time in August month as per the Hindu Lunar calendar, thousands of devotees and pilgrims visit these holy sites. Hindus believe that a bath and a dip in the sacred lake relinquish the sins of hundreds of lifetimes.    
 
The legend and mythology of Gosainkund are that Lord Shiva, one of the main deities of the Hindu religion. Lord Shiva consumed a lethal poison to save the worldly beings from the deadly potion, and to save himself. Created the ponds and lakes to quench, dilute the deadly potion with his mighty trident, the weapon of Shiva.  

In the early days, there were 108 lakes, at present about half a dozen exists including the main Gosainkund Lake. Spending an interesting time at Gosainkund sacred crystal clear lake, the adventure takes you on top of the highest point. Walk along the lakeside, then steep climb past smaller glacial ponds of Surya and Saraswati Kund to the high pass. 

Reaching the highest spot of the adventure on top of Gosainkund and East Laurabinaya-La at 4,610 m and 15,126 feet high. Rewards with a glorious panorama of surrounding beautiful scenery of rolling green hills, valleys with a range of snow-clad peaks.
 
On achieving our major highlight of the journey, a long descend reaches you back into vegetation and tall tree lines. Walk gets easier on winding mountain trail following a path through the forest to enter around Helambu region at Kutumsang village. From here onward heading towards the south, as the adventure continues walking on a scenic ridge past the lovely village of Gul Bhanjyang.
 
The last climb of the adventure reaches you at high Chisapani for the last overnight halt, before heading back to Kathmandu. Chisapani is one of the best viewpoints for stunning sunrise and sunsets over an array of Central Himalayan peaks. The view extends as far towards Ganesh, Manaslu, and Annapurna Himalaya in the far western horizon. Chisapani is a small village, situated on a high spot above the Kathmandu valley's northeastern rim. This nice scenic place provides nice lodges for travelers to Helambu and Gosainkund as well to Nagarkot another viewpoint.
 
Enjoy the striking sunrise, and then our wonderful adventurous trekking comes to an end on reaching Sundarijal farm town. An exciting short drive brings you to Kathmandu, after a marvelous experience on Langtang Valley & Gosainkund / Laurabinaya-La Pass Trekking.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On first arrival in Kathmandu and Nepal international airport, received by our Epic Adventures staff and guide for short transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu. After a short refreshing rest in your room then join with other group members for trek briefing, our expert guide will provides full information regarding the trek, culture, tour of Kathmandu at places of interest.

Evening a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurants with local folk cultural program entertains, while you have dinner.

Day 2 : Drive to Syabrubesi 1,470 m via Dhunche town 1,950 - 06 hrs.

Start our adventure with interesting drive towards Langtang Himal area, journey takes you past lovely farm villages and town, from warm climate of Trisuli Bazaar to cooler Himalaya hills at Dhunche, the headquarter town of Rasuwa district and the entrance of Langtang National Park, the first mountainous park of Nepal established in the mid-1970. Famous for rare flora / fauna and habitat of endangered Red Panda. From Dhunche on downhill to Syabrubesi village for first overnight stop around Langtang Himal area.

Day 3 : Trek to Lama Hotel 2,350 m - 06 hrs.

Morning having good breakfast, start the first walk of the adventure heading towards a bridge, and then route climbs over farm hills and forested area to reach a small place River side with few smaller huts serving as tea house and shops. Here for short refreshing break, and then continue trek entering cool shaded forest of tall rhododendron, oaks, pines, magnolia and fir trees with some Bamboo. Slowly walk comes to an end on reaching a small clearing at Lama Hotel, situated within beautiful forest and by the raging Langtang Khola / River.

Lama Hotel with few good simple lodges to offer for the trekkers, check into one its nice cosy lodge for overnight stop.

Day 4 : Trek to Langtang village 3, 307 m-06 hrs.

Morning starts with slow climb into dense tree lines following the river gorge upstream, past few small settlements and cattle herder temporary shelters to Ghoretabela. A lovely spot amidst forest surroundings, a place with few lodges and restaurants, a perfect place for lunch break. 

After Ghoretabela, afternoon walk into forested path with gradual up and crossing streams to reach at Langtang Village for overnight stop. Langtang village was badly damaged and many life was lost from the big Earthquake of April and May 2015 that shook mid-east and west Nepal.

The whole village was wiped out, slowly over the years this nice place is getting back to normal as it was before. Check into one of its fine lodge, afternoon free for leisure walk around the village, here you can witness memorials of local and trekkers who lost their life from the earthquake.

Day 5 : Trek to Kyanjin 3, 800 m- 04 hrs

Morning from Langtang village a short climb then heading past some prayer walls and monuments, as walk enters a scenic Langtang valley surrounded by array of high snow mountain range of Langtang Himal, as you reach overnight halt at Kyanjin as well for lunch, a lovely spot located in the heart of Langtang Valley.

Afternoon free to relax and marvel the magnificent scenery that encircles the Lovely spot of Kyanjin and the valley.

Day 6 : Rest-Day for leisure scenic hike and short excursion.

A full free day and free packing, morning after breakfast enjoy hike up the hill for best views of Langtang Himal group of peaks. The top of Kyanjin-Ri and Tsergo-Ri offers excellent panorama of Ganesh Himal (7,405 m), Langtang Lirung (7,234 m), Ghengu Liru (Langtang- II 6,571 m) and Kimshun (6,745 m) with Shalbachum (6,918 m), Chimsedang, Naya-Kanga / Ganja Chuli (5,846 m), and as far towards Gangchempo, Tilman's Fluted Peak. View extends further east to Jugal Himal and ends to Dorje Lakpa (6,980 m). Includes peaks across the border of Tibet, as Langtang Himal forms the great barrier of Nepal and Tibet / China.

Rest of the day relax and explore around the village and its small monastery and Cheese factory from the product of local Yak milk.

Day 7 : Trek to Lama Hotel 2,350 m - 06 hrs.

From Kyanjin retrace the journey back to Lama Hotel, a long downhill into dense tree lines to reach overnight stop at Lama Hotel, after a wonderful time on high scenic Langtang valley at Kyanjin.

Day 8 : Trek to Thulo Syabru 2,115 m -05 hrs.

After pleasant overnight at Lama Hotel, with the sound of river, morning on same route for a while till River Side, from here climb takes you to steep climb for few hours to Thulo Syabru village. Located on a high ridge, where houses are lined close to each stone and wooden huts.  Check into a nice lodge, and enjoy the afternoon exploring the village and witness impressive culture of Buddhism as well the monastery situated above from the lodge.

Day 9 : Trek to Sing Gompa / Chandanbari 3,255 m - 05 hrs.

From Thulo Syabru village, morning starts with climb above the monastery heading into deep forest, with views of Ganesh and Manaslu Himal towards north west. As walk follows up past few settlement with small tea shops the reach on a wide grassy field, from here on nice pleasant path into lovely woods to overnight stop at Sing Gompa, also called Chandanbari. A small village with fine lodges and a small cheese factory, The Sing Gompa name, due to its old monastery on top of the village, Gompa for monastery in Tibetan origin language. 

Day 10 : Trek to Gosainkund 4,380 m / 14,375 feet- 05 hrs.

Today adventure reach you to our second destinations at holy Gosainkund glacial lake, from the lodge at Sing Gompa a short climb and then on gradual path entering a forested path to reach an open exposed area. From here a steep climb as tree lines gives away for short rhododendron and juniper bushes. As climb continues past few small settlements with shops and tea-house, facing spectacular panorama of Langtang, Ganesh, Manaslu as far towards Annapurna Himalaya in the far west. Climb then leads on top a ridge of Laurabinaya with short descend on nice stone path coming across a Bhairab lake, then ending the day walk on reaching Gosainkund and its serene holy lake.

A famous religious place for Hindu followers, in the festival time called Jani Purnima falls on Full Moon in the month of August wet monsoon season.

Thousands of pilgrims visits here for pray and dip in the icy lake, to cleanse the sins of a hundreds life-time, the festival changing of holy threads to new ones for Hindu males. A place with a small shrine of Lord Shiva near the bank of the lake. Overnight in a small simple lodge facing views of the lake and it’s rugged mountain surroundings.

Day 11 : To Ghopte Odar 3,430m crossing Gosainkund Pass / Laurabina-La 4,610 m / 15,126 feet high- 07 hrs.

From Gosainkund, morning walk on pleasant path heads towards the eastern bank of the lake, and then starts climb on rocky path of huge boulders past small ponds of Surya and Saraswati Kund. As climb continues reaching on top the highest point of the adventure at 4,610 m high. Enjoy grand views of surrounding beautiful landscapes with distant peaks towards north east.

After a short rest on top, a long descend to Phedi the base of Gosainkund Pass, a small place with few huts serving as simple lodge and tea-house. Possible lunch stop and then afternoon walk leads on winding path and the back into green vegetation and tall juniper and rhododendron trees. Slowly walk ends for the day reaching Ghopte Odar, a small settlement with few simple lodge, situated on route Helambu area and to Kathmandu.  Ghopte Odar the word for an overhanging rock caves, makes a fine shelter for early pilgrims and local travelers as well at present.

Day 12 : Trek to Kutumsang 2,470 m - 06 hrs.

Staying overnight in an isolated spot at Ghopte, from here onward within Helambu area, the home of Hyalmo people similar to Sherpa and Tamang tribes follows Buddhism culture and custom. As walk continues walking out of forest towards a high ridge of Thadepati for lunch stop, a high spot offers super views of snow mountain range. Afternoon a long descend past a wide grazing field of Mange Goth and then into dense forest to reach at Kutumsang village for Overnight in of its fine lodge. 

Day 13 : Drive to Kathmandu from Kusumtang 6-7 hrs

After breakfast, depart from Kutumsang by private vehicle or local jeep. Enjoy the scenic drive through the Helambu region with panoramic views of the surrounding hills and mountains. Then we Continue the drive towards Melamchi, a small town known for its picturesque river valley. Take a short break for refreshments and to stretch your legs. Resume your journey from Melamchi, passing through winding mountain roads and villages, eventually reaching Dhulikhel. Enjoy glimpses of the Himalayas and terraced farmlands and we will arrive in Kathmandu after 6-7 hours of drive.

Day 14 : International departure for homeward bound.

Last day in Kathmandu and in Nepal, as per your international flight time our staff and guide will accompany you for a short drive to international airport for final departure, after a memorable experience and great adventure Langtang Valley & Gosainkund / Laurabinaya-La Pass Trekking around amazing Nepal Himalayas.
